The Sunday Times was the media sponsor for the British International Motor Show held in Birmingham in Spring 2004. It took on responsibility for publishing an Official Motor Show Guide.
The Sunday Times lacked the experience or resources to handle this major one-off automotive publication. It retained responsibility for ad sales, but awarded WordZone the contract to handle editorial, photography, design and production.
The job was complex, involving constant, close liaison with The Sunday Times and the motor show organisers – together with all the motor manufacturers and contributors such as Jodie Kidd, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Jeremy Clarkson. The 232 page Official Motor Show Guide was widely heralded as a refreshingly different – but very successful – alternative to conventional event programmes.
