WordZone played a significant role in the changes to the new car market. For more than 3 years it successfully published the consumer magazine ‘Car Import Guide’, which helped motorists to save up to 50% by purchasing their cars in overseas markets.
As the market matured, UK businesses began to organise large scale parallel imports. Big savings were available to motorists buying from car supermarkets and online retailers. Franchised dealers’ prices fell too.
Car Import Guide was relaunched on a bigger scale as Carbuyer magazine, with WordZone handling all the journalism, photography, design, ad sales and production. After 15 months on sale through WH Smith, Tesco and other retail outlets, the title was well established. It was profitably sold to one of the UK’s top ten magazine publishers.
